The Forges

My First Forge

My first forge was made from an outdoor grill. A hole was cut in the bottom and 2 inch plumbing fixtures (Flange, 2 nipples, tee, plug and conduit adapters) were used to provide the air passage. Air was supplied by my wife's hair dryer. This forge was very instumental in making parts and pieces for my current forges. I no longer have this setup. Her hair got wet ?!?

Portable Forge

This forge is portable and was made from a school bus's brake drum. It was cut down and feed slots cut into it . A plate was welded into the open space of the brake drum and Champion Tuyere is used to provide the air passage. Air is supplied by a Champion rotary blower. The tuyere and blower were found in my cousin-in-law's barn. The support legs were made from a spike tooth harrow frame.

Permanent Forge

My permanent forge is a table forge I bought for $25 at a junk shop. Again 2 inch plumbing fixtures (Flange, nipples, tee, plug and conduit adapters) provide the air passage. Air is supplied by a homemade double-acting bellows. One side of the forge contains a tong rack and the other a chisel/punch rack. Another tong rack is in the background
