Foundry Furnace

The structure used to melt the casting material is called a furnace or cupola. Since I only use the low melting point materials (Aluminum, Pot Metal and Lead), I can use my forges to melt the material in iron crucibles. A propane burner (crab cooker) could probably also be used. If the higher temperature materials are to be melted then a special refractory furnace should be constructed as described in the references.
